Avoid Indigestion in Recruitment

A person may be a good eater but can't eat beyond his capacity or things doesn’t suit his body. When going for a lunch / dinner, you find 100 odd foods on the menu but you prefer to choose the one which suits your body. In the similar way organization need to keep a check on their hiring appetite as well. Of late I have noticed that organisations are running for the closure of 100 odd positions, which needs to be filled as early as possible. It’s always ideal to have predefined targets & timelines for the assigned work, which should be defined keeping in mind the pro and cons.

Aim is to hire the best candidate for the respective positions within a stipulated timeframe, but the management should ensure that the recruitment team is well equipped with the resources. High performance delivery cannot be expected out of tremendous pressure. Working under the pressure would lower the productivity level and it will lead to indigestion of hiring. With such consequences attrition rate rises which impacts the following:

    1.     Cost of Attrition
    2.     Rise in the budget of hiring
    3.     Organization gets maligned
    4.     Effect in High performance delivery

To have a smooth hiring and retention of the employee, management should analyze the core competencies of the employees’ and as per the requirements manpower planning to be done for the recruitment team. Team should have the processes defined in place for the hiring of “white collar” & “blue collar” employees. To have cost effective hiring company should not depend on only one source rather must have multi options opened for recruiting the right people for the right position within timeline.

Hiring to be done quantitative as well as qualitative wise, which will keep the appetite in control.
