Utsav” being around, we bring you about the bunch of people who gave up their
respective jobs to build the team of “Chikanbarn”. Ideology behind the
inception of “Chikanbarn” was to revive & promote the 400 year old ancient
Indian art of “Chikankari” and to work for the furtherance of artisans.
STARTUP SAGA
“Uplytics
Consulting”, started by an IIT – IIM graduate, is the parent company of
“Chikanbarn”. It was launched on January 2012 by a group of young professionals,
who put in good measures and adeptly supported by handicraft & commerce
graduates. It is a “for profit” initiative recently started in Lucknow for
promoting the arts and contributing for the development of living conditions of
the artisans.
Chikankari is
a hand crafted art which consists of 36 different types of stiches. In ancient
era it was done using white thread on white muslin, silk, chiffon clothes. With
the current era which is purely fashion oriented, chikankari is now done using
colorful silk threads on colorful clothes as well. It is not only limited to
dresses but also home linens are made using this astonishing craft.“Chikanbarn”
partners with the leading ecommerce website – “Flipkart”, “Amazon”, “EBay” to
give a large platform to the artisans for displaying their arts. It contributes
the 2% of the platform revenue are directly used for the development of the
artisans.

craft & the artisans.

design a socially oriented brand line for the direct participations that is of
benefit to the artisans.
