Nightmare At Forester

Ellie used to live with her family in a forest, of Finland. One morning, she saw a basket full of lovely flowers lying on the bench, in a garden. She walked towards the bench to pick up the basket, nearing on to the bench she heard a baby cry. On moving the flowers, she found a cute baby lying under the flowers. 

She looked around for the baby's mother, but to her surprise there was no one around. Ellie understood that the mother of the child has deserted her.  

Ellie got worried for the safety of the baby, as there lived a cruel wolf, named Jackal. Her parent has gone to the city and would not return until the dawn time. She decided to take the baby along to her home.

Quickly she started walking towards her  house, on the way Ellie stop by her friend Simone's place, to inform her about the baby.Simone was surprised on seeing the baby and advised Ellie to take up the matter at the king’s court in the evening, to which Ellie nodded her head in agreement. 

Till than they decided to take care of baby, but both were clueless about how to feed baby? Simone decided to go out and arrange for milk and some fruits, and asked his friend to be careful, as former might get delayed due to bad weather. Suddenly the sky became darker, lightning and thunder storm scared the baby. Ellie wondered how she can calm the baby till Simone is away.

So she thought of singing a lullaby(sung by Ellie's mom) to the baby. 

Suddenly there was a knock on the door followed by a voice: Anybody home? Ellie asked, “Who is it?”

Acquaintance: It’s Frenzy. Need help?

Ellie: Who are you?

Frenzy: An old lady from the town hall. I was going home and got stuck because of the bad weather. Please help me.

Ellie: What help you require mam?

Frenzy: I am thirsty and tired as well. So need little water for myself and shelter till the weather gets better.

Ellie: Mam, I can help you with the water, but I am alone at home so won’t be able to provide you shelter. However you can rest in my Veranda till the weather gets clear.

Frenzy: Ok.

Ellie filled the bottle, packed some food and asked Frenzy, to come near the kitchen window, but there was no response from Frenzy. She again called out for Frenzy, still there was no response, after a while, with a quiver in voice the old lady, pleading you my dear for the shelter, as I feared of my life from Jackal. 

Ellie got attentive, on hearing the name ‘Jackal’, and thought how the old lady knew about the Jackal?, as Frenzy was not from Forester.

Ellie got furious by being outsmarted by the wolf. Weather worsened, the window pane scraping between window and the frame sounded louder n louder, she ran and closed the window, pulled and placed the wall unit against the main door. Her hands frozen, shaking while holding the baby. The sound of scratching at the floor, howling and crawling at the door made Ellie’s heart pounding due to fear, still she kept the calm and kept thinking how to drive him off. She started shouting “Danger zone near the pool” (as advised by the king, “When you are in danger just scream ‘danger zone and the place where one is stacked”), Ellie placed cotton ear plugs into the baby’s ear and screamed at the top of her voice. 

Her voice was heard by many and they all started walking towards Ellie’s house with torch light. On seeing the group of people coming forward, jackal got infuriated and vanished in the darkness.  

King was happy with the kind of courage and presence of mind Ellie had shown, which helped her save her as well as life of the baby.

By being cool and composed during crisis, brain functions accurately and one is able to navigate the situation with an ease. 

Moral of the story:Staying calm navigate challenges with greater ease.
