Mrs. Tushita Roy, who belongs to the place of “Aryans– The Pataliputra” now called “Patna”, is a qualified post graduate in sales & marketing from - PGCSM from IIM Indore & PGDM from Kirloskar Institute. She has a rich experience of 12 years in marketing the branded products in the market. However her heart was never into the mundane job and was always interested in creativity being an art lover, which she has inherited from her family.

STARTUP SAGA

Post marriage she has to change her base to Chennai but continued working. Soon she became the homemaker and thereafter mother of cute twin daughters, that time around she has to leave her job. Like most of the Indian ladies she got busy with her family and dedicatedly taking care of her kids. But somewhere in her mind a thought was evolving to start her own work pertaining to arts wherein she can operate it from her home and can help unrecognized artists find path to display their work in a smooth way and finding an identity for themselves. Another way of contributing socially & economically. One day she had a get together at her place, then while dining with her family & friends she expressed her desire to start her own venture. She got much appreciation and support for the idea which led to the inception of her online store “La Artesania LLP”. Under the flagship of La Artesania LLP” “Artkarte” was launched on 13th Mar’13. Since the time of initiation there has been no looking back for the “Artkarte” team.
“Artkarte” as the name itself is self-explanatory, is a platform for artists with different fortes to showcase their work not only in India but across the globe, and earn their livelihoods as well. Most importantly the work is purely handcrafted. The store believes in the empowerment of genders – artists from remote village of states like Bihar; Manipur; Kerala; UP; Orissa and many more. Under one umbrella you get a prospect of various beautiful arts of India, which many of us are not even aware of OR have not heard of.

To start with the arty work available at the online store:

  • MADHUBANI ART: - Madhubani Painting is also termed as Mithila Painting, and is adept in the interior regions of Bihar called Mithila and the adjoining parts of Terai in Nepal. Best thing about this art is that painting can be done by fingers; twigs; brushes; nib-pens; matchsticks using permanent dyes & pigments. It is characterized by geometrical patterns. Baseline of the depiction is based on different god; occasions & festivals such as Lord Krishna and his gopiya’s; Lord Ganapati in different forms; Holi: Durga Puja; Kali Puja; Upanayanam. Products that are available in Madhubani painting are Sarees; Portraits; Stoles; Duppatta; Cushion covers; salwar-suits; Bed covers/sheets.
  • BLACK LONPI POTTERYis crafted by hand using the black stone from the interiors of Manipur. Longpi derives its name from the village named Longpi in Manipur. The origins of the technique of making Longpi Pottery are attributed to Goddess Panthobi.  The inhabitants of Ukhrul district of Manipur region credit the Goddess as the mother of artifact-making that includes pottery making.  It represents a process towards our creation is what they believe. That is why Longpi Pottery is necessarily used in performing rituals on festive occasions like childbirth and marriage. Specially designed for specific purposes, Longpi Pottery is used both for cooking and storing foodstuff.
